“Cotopaxi & Chimborazo”, 16 Days

Day 1. Arrive Quito. If you land here in the morning, visit to the colonial downtown of Quito – the first place to become Cultural Heritage of the Mankind (2.800m)
Day 2. Acclimatization hike to Pasochoa (4200m).
Day 3. Acclimatization hike to Guagua Pichincha (4794m)
Day 4. Transfer to La Virgen de Ilinizas base camp (3.900m). Overnight in tents.
Day 5. Climb Iliniza Norte (5.126m). Overnight in an old Hacienda.
Day 6. Rest day, optional visit to a local indigenous market.
Day 7. Transfer to Cotopaxi national park. Hike to the Jose Ribas Refuge (4.800m). Overnight.
Day 8. Climb Cotopaxi (5.897m) and transfer to Riobamba (2.700m).
Day 9. Train ride over the Devil’s Nose. Return to Riobamba.
Day 10. Transfer to Chimborazo national park. Overnight in the Whymper hut (5.000m)
Day 11. Attempt to climb Chimborazo. Descend to the Carrel hut (4.800m)
Day 12. Reserve day for Chimborazo. Transfer to the subtropical town of Banios (1.900m)
Day 13. Free day in Banios.
Day 14. Free morning in Banios, transfer to Quito.
Day 15. Excursion to the Otavalo Indian market and Cuicocha lake.
Day 16. Transfer out. Fly home.
